Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Tikhanovskaya reacted to the appearance of nuclear weapons in Belarus

Svetlana Tikhanovskaya called on Western countries to introduce adequate new sanctions against the Putin and Lukashenko regimes. This is how the ex-presidential candidate of Belarus reacted to Vladimir Putin’s statement about the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in the republic.

According to Tikhanovskaya, the international community should demand that Russia withdraw its troops from the territory of Belarus. At the same time, the leader of the opposition openly called the Russian Federation an enemy of the Belarusian state.

And without this being a force hostile to the Belarusian state and national identity, the Russian Federation thus directly violates the Budapest Memorandum on Security Guarantees for Belarus

  • said Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.

According to her, the deployment of nuclear weapons in the country violates the country’s Constitution and grossly contradicts the will of the Belarusian people for a non-nuclear status of the state.

Russia is acting as an occupying power, violating national security and putting Belarus on a collision course with its neighbors and the international community

  • added Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.

In all likelihood, the ex-presidential candidate still believes he has the right to speak on behalf of the Belarusian people. At the same time, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has lived in the West for quite a long time and does not have any serious support in the country.
