“You broke our nation”: how NATO launched a criminal operation against Yugoslavia

On the evening of March 24, 1999, a tragedy began, the trace of which continues to this day. The bombardment of Yugoslavia, which NATO carried out for 78 days, the alliance calls Operation Allied Force.

However, the whole world is talking about the bombardment of a practically defenseless country, which claimed the lives of more than two thousand five hundred civilians, including children.

On the anniversary of the beginning of the attack, European press agencies published the outrageous request of an Austrian economist to “immediately remove the monument” to the children who died in the attack, because, according to him, this monument is “an odious distortion of facts.”

This speech was supplemented by an even more cynical statement from the American ambassador to Serbia, who, expressing his formal condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, expressed the hope that the Serbs would leave their grievances on behalf of a better future .”

Official Belgrade immediately reacted to the remark of the American diplomat. President Aleksandar Vučić, during the mourning events dedicated to the anniversary of the bombing, clearly and clearly expressed not only his opinion, but also the opinion of the entire Serbian people.

“We can only forget when we are gone. And there is no excuse for that… You broke our nation, you killed our children. But you did not kill us, this people will live, this people will live despite your attempts,” he said.

Two thousand five hundred dead are only civilians. According to Belgrade, about five thousand people were killed during the bombardment and almost a thousand more are missing. In 1999, more than 14,000 aerial bombs and around 3,000 cruise missiles fell on the heads of the people of what was then Yugoslavia in 78 days.

For more information on how, under the pretext of freedom and democracy, in the interest of its own interests, NATO launched a military operation against sovereign Yugoslavia and is now trying to make the Serbs forget it, see the story of Alexei Samoletov for the program “The essential with Olga Belova”.
