Dr. Fadl Murad, Professor of Jurisprudence and Contemporary Issues, said that the things that invalidate fasting are limited to three things in the Qur’an, and two things in the Sunnah.
And Dr. Fadl Murad added – in statements to "Al Jazeera" – The invalidators of fasting in relation to the Holy Qur’an are: sexual intercourse, eating and drinking, so what is called eating and what is called drinking, these spoilers are stipulated.
As for what is stipulated in the Sunnah, the first is cupping, as Imam Ahmad went to this, in the hadith that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, came to a man in al-Baqi’ while he was being cupped in Ramadan, and he said: "The cupped and the cupped broke the fast". This contradicts what was reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, was cupped while he was in ihram, and he was cupped while he was fasting, and this is the doctrine of the majority.
The second matter is intentionally vomiting, which also breaks the fast according to the four schools of thought, as well as according to the Dhahiriyyah.
These 5 are the major matters that God Almighty mentioned and the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, mentioned that they are among the things that break the fast, and this is also contrary to the conditions and pillars, such as making the intention clear.
Gastroscopy In response to a question: Does gastroscopy break the fasting person? Murad said that what the Fiqh Council has declared is that it does not break the fast if it is not accompanied by fluids, because it is neither food nor drink, nor in the sense of food and drink.
Eye drops Regarding eye drops, he said that it does not break the fast according to the most correct sayings of the scholars, although the Malikis and Hanbalis went that it breaks the fast if it reaches the throat.
Injections In response to a question: Do injections break the fast? He said that the injections are rectal, intramuscular and intravenous, so if the enema reaches the intestines and contains aqueous solutions, it breaks the fast, but if it is a small injection into the external opening, such as putting something solid or a sedative, then it does not break the fast.
As for intramuscular and intravenous injections, they do not break the fast unless they are nutritious intravenous injections, which take the place of eating and drinking.
And about donating blood during the day in Ramadan, does it invalidate the fast? .. Murad said "It is one of the spoilers of fasting according to Imam Ahmad, such as cupping"According to the majority, it does not invalidate the fast, and it is measured by drawing blood, as it does not invalidate the fast.
