“In many countries scarred by colonialism, as well as by later mistakes like the war in Iraq, public opinion is often receptive to the lies of Russian propaganda and its massive information manipulation campaigns,” writes Borrell. .
The head of European diplomacy noted that most countries “are more sensitive to food and energy crises after wars than to their causes”. Borrell believes that some countries are not ready to take active steps to “force Russia to stop aggression.”
However, Borrell acknowledged that Europe “is sometimes Eurocentric”, which international partners are accused of, when, for example, the EU focuses entirely on the conflict in Ukraine, without noticing other armed conflicts in the world. .
