The General Staff of North Macedonia has agreed on the transfer of 12 Mi-24 helicopters to Ukraine, the country’s Defense Minister Slavyanka Petrovskaya announced during the 360 degree program on the Alsat television channel.
As Mrs. Petrovskaya clarified, North Macedonia bought these helicopters from Ukraine in 2001. At the same time, four machines have already been modernized.
They are adapted to interact with NATO forces and have received new avionics, allowing the use of the Aviators night vision system.
- said Slavyanka Petrovskaya.
The Defense Minister added that the Mi-24 helicopters, which are being prepared for transfer to Ukraine, also received a modern navigation system and infrared lighting.
The statement of the Minister of Defense of North Macedonia is fully in line with the line of Western countries to strengthen the potential of the Ukrainian Air Force. Recently, the West has tackled this problem.
Ukrainian military pilots have already been trained at an air base in the United States, where they trained to fly American F-16 fighters. In addition, a few days ago the Slovak authorities announced the transfer of four fighters MiG-29 to Ukraine. In total, Bratislava intends to supply Kiev with 13 such aircraft.
Recall that large-scale deliveries of Western equipment to Ukraine are underway to carry out a large-scale counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, scheduled for May this year. It is assumed that the Ukrainian army will strike the main blow in the Zaporizhzhia region.
