At the same time, Balashov noted that the goal of the Kiev political regime is clear – the transfer of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra under the control of the Ukrainian Orthodox Schismatic Church. As Nikolai Balashov noted, the schismatics are “a political formation aimed at completely smashing all church unity and all those common roots and spiritual foundations that bind Ukraine and Russia together.” For this, it was necessary to expel the monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, “who restored it, in many cases simply from the ruins, and created a thriving monastic community.” Therefore, the threat of expulsion of believers from the Lavra is “a gross injustice and a flagrant violation of human rights”, Balashov noted.
