The United States does not believe that Russia intends to use nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine. The statement was made during an online briefing by Strategic Communications Coordinator at the White House National Security Council (NSC), John Kirby, commenting on the Russian Federation’s decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons (TNW ) on the territory of Belarus.
“We haven’t seen any movement of tactical nukes or anything like that since that announcement. And we certainly haven’t seen any indication that Mr. Putin has made any decision to use weapons of destruction. mass, let alone nuclear weapons, in Ukraine,” a White House official said.
Earlier, Putin said that Moscow and Minsk agreed to place tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. He stressed that tactical nuclear weapons would be deployed without violating relevant international obligations. The reason for this decision was London’s intention to supply depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine.
Recall that British Deputy Defense Minister Annabelle Goldie said that London would transfer armor-piercing shells containing depleted uranium to Ukraine. British tanks will be equipped with this ammunition.
