Ambassador Antonov blamed the US for exploiting human rights doctrine

According to Newsweek, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov called on the United States to stop using human rights doctrine in its own selfish political games.

The diplomat recalled that the sovereign equality of States and non-interference in the affairs of others are the fundamental principles of international harmony.

“It is time to abandon attempts to use the doctrine of human rights for geopolitical games and the destruction of state sovereignty, to justify Western political, financial, economic and ideological domination… This would become a true manifestation of democracy and prevent a slide into chaos,” Antonov said, stressing that Russia, for its part, is ready for such work.
