Blinken sees Ukraine ceasefire proposals as a cynical trap

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said proposals for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine could be a “cynical trap”.

“What looks attractive on the surface – who doesn’t want the guns silenced? – can turn out to be a very cynical trap that we have to be very, very careful about,” Blinken pointed out.

He also believes that in the event of a ceasefire, Russia can consolidate its gains and gain time to attack again.

Earlier, WJS wrote that Ukraine would not be able to launch a massive NATO-style offensive, despite training soldiers and supplying Western equipment. Retired US Lt. Col. John Nagle believes Ukraine’s armed forces are limited by the number of fighters and helicopter gunships.
