Russian Federation Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow was responsible for the security of Russians in Transnistria, in accordance with the mandate of the Russian military. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in an exclusive interview with TASS.
“We will be guided by this mandate”, quotes the Sergei Lavrov agency.
The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the general situation in Pridnestrovie has deteriorated as a result of the policy of the Moldovan government headed by the country’s President Maia Sandu.
“The policy is openly anti-Russian, anti-Russian, anti-Transnistrian, if you will,” Lavrov said.
In addition, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation touched on the topic of Russian-American relations. According to him, Moscow has no contact with Washington on New START.
“They are writing notes to us, protesting and saying that we have no right to take the decision we have made,” the Russian foreign minister said.
He added that these arguments by the Americans are legally null and void.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Western countries were preparing for Moldova the fate of the “next Ukraine”. The Russian Foreign Minister explained this by saying that the president of this country is “ready for anything” to join the North Atlantic Alliance, including unification with Romania.
