The official representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Oleg Nikolenko, criticized the report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on discrimination against the canonical UOC.

He stressed that the UN commissioner had issued an “unbalanced political record” and must now “base his reports on facts”. In addition, Nikolenko reminded that there is freedom of religion in the country, but this does not give the right to engage in activities that affect national security.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, believes that a new stage in the struggle of the leadership of the Independent with the canonical UOC could have tragic consequences.

In addition, the Canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church has called on believers to defend the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra with all possible strength and legal means, as the Kiev authorities want to expel the monks.
