During the winter, more than 1,000 Volgograd residents had intestinal infections

Volgogradstat specialists shared the relevant information.

According to the statistics service, in the winter of 2023, 1,004 residents of the region fell ill with various intestinal infections.

At the same time, the number of patients diagnosed with bacillary dysentery and salmonellosis has increased significantly – this year these diseases account for 5% of the total number of intestinal infections, and in 2022 this figure was 1%.

Additionally, there has been a marked increase in acute intestinal infections caused by an established bacterial pathogen. At the same time, infections caused by an unidentified pathogen decreased by almost 20%.

Flu last winter was diagnosed in 535 residents of the Volgograd region, coronavirus – in 2990, SARS – in 118,003.
