- Good morning!
My question is about permanent residency. I have been living in Germany for 3 years, having married a German. Everything is fine. The husband has received a promotion and is forced to move to another country (not EU) to work for a while (the term is not yet clear). I stay in Germany because I have a permanent contract at work.
We are afraid to see each other at best on weekends. What happens if I leave Germany and move in with my husband? Will they give me permanent residency? Or do you still need to stay in Germany? What happens if I find a job in the country where my husband is transferred and I pay voluntary contributions? Or in this case, I will be a tax resident of another country, and will have to pay taxes there? Please explain how to proceed.

“Dear Vika!
With a residence permit, everything is simple. Residence permit issued for residence in the country. If a foreigner leaves the country for the purpose of permanent residence in another country, the residence permit is terminated.
In your situation, it makes sense to leave the center of vital interests (one of the centers of vital interests) in Germany. In other words, housing, registration, medical insurance must remain. It will also be useful to hurry to obtain a permanent residence permit. After three years of living together, this is possible if you have knowledge of the German language at level B1.
If you move with your spouse to a third country, when your spouse returns, you can again obtain a residence permit in Germany for family reunification, but the countdown of all mandates will start again.
