For his part, Syed Omar Atta, an international kickboxing coach, explained that the gyms witness a great turnout of young people in the holy month of Ramadan, as everyone is keen to maintain health and fight obesity, indicating that these gyms have various activities that suit every age group, and meet The human need and desire to exercise.
Atta said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA): "We have players from different age groups, buds, youth, juniors, children and men, and we seek to develop the game in Qatar".
He added that practicing sports gives young people self-confidence, strength and determination, which appears in the great demand for participation in various halls, and the practice of various sports, especially with regard to body building, in addition to the sport of kickboxing, which has begun to spread in the country during the recent period. .
The trainer pointed out that exercising during the month of Ramadan contributes to losing weight and burning fat, especially since Ramadan foods contain a lot of sugars and fats, pointing out that there are some groups that suffer from diseases such as high pressure and diabetes, and they exercise in order to maintain their health.
The coach, Sayed Omar Atta, called on everyone to exercise, which suits their age, and to invest free time in sports, indicating that gyms have become an outlet for many young people, even those who do not attach great importance to sports, but who practice in order to maintain their health.
For his part, Wissam Akl, an assistant trainer in a gym, confirmed that the youth’s interest in exercising during the month of Ramadan varies according to the times. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Akl said that they are in the gyms seeking to organize times for those who are fasting to exercise, as most of the morning periods are allocated to children, and the evening period to youth.
He explained that the goal of exercising during the month of Ramadan is to maintain body agility and physical fitness and lose weight, especially since diets usually contain high calories.
Many young people in the State of Qatar during the holy month like to exercise, as some set a self-scheduling for that, some of them prefer to exercise before breakfast and do light exercises, and avoid strenuous exercises that require high effort, and lead to excessive fatigue and extreme thirst, and some of them prefer Exercising after Iftar, as they eagerly accept it after completing Tarawih prayers, to occupy their time and maintain their health.
In view of the importance of sport during the month of Ramadan, the Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Hospital (Aspetar) issued last year a guideline, the first of its kind, that dealt with several axes related to the exercise of sports for healthy people during the month of Ramadan, for professional athletes and for healthy individuals from the general community and sports enthusiasts. In addition to the appropriate time to practice training sessions before and after Iftar, organizing training in terms of the principle of repetition, intensity of exercises, time and type of optimal training, nutrition, drinking fluids and ways to cool the body without neglecting the psychological and spiritual impact and the social and cognitive aspects of the month of Ramadan.
