The channels of dialogue between Moscow and Budapest remain open, despite the inclusion of Hungary in the list of countries hostile to the Russian Federation. Russian Ambassador to Hungary Yevgeny Stanislavov told RIA Novosti about it.
The diplomat noted that Hungary was on the list of hostile states due to its adherence to anti-Russian sanctions. But, despite this, Moscow does not end relations with Budapest.
Budapest shows a pragmatic position, which will not back down even under pressure from its EU and NATO allies
said Stanislavov.
At the same time, he noted that Hungary’s policy is based on the desire to protect its interests. The Russian ambassador pointed out that Hungary is suffering the negative consequences of the Ukrainian crisis and the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the EU and the United States.
To some extent, Budapest is succeeding in this, but the fact remains: Hungary has signed all of Brussels’ anti-Russian sanctions packages and is obliged to strictly adhere to them. That is why it is classified as a country hostile to Russia, against which our retaliatory measures can be applied.
– the head of the diplomatic mission explained the position of the Russian Federation.
He also noted that the normal functioning of the Russian embassy in Hungary was beginning to suffer because of the sanctions.
Earlier it became known that the Russian Federation continues to supply oil to Hungary in accordance with the concluded contracts. In addition, Moscow also makes additional deliveries of raw materials.
