Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

In Cheboksary, a couple was sentenced for illegally helping migrants

In Cheboksary, a married couple was convicted for “helping” migrants to obtain documents on sufficient knowledge of the Russian language.

As revealed by the employees of the regional department of the FSB and the established investigation, spouses living in the Chuvash capital held examinations for foreign citizens on knowledge of the Russian language, history and legislation of Russia on the territory of the republic.

At the same time, no one checked or assessed the actual knowledge of foreign citizens; they received certificates for money, on the basis of which they issued a temporary residence permit in Russia.

Five foreigners are known to have received certificates in this way. The Leninsky and Cheboksary district prosecutor’s office prepared legal proceedings to invalidate the certificates issued to migrants.

The couple, meanwhile, appeared in court for organizing illegal emigration, committed by a group of people by mutual agreement. They did not plead guilty, but the court accepted it as a fact and sentenced the couple to a two-year suspended prison sentence, reports public prosecutor’s office .
