Khan, a Silver Briton, was pulled from the rubble of an 11-storey building which was destroyed by the February 6 earthquake. An animal with a broken leg and severe dehydration is being treated, according to Turkish news agency BIA.Its landlady, Nida Dina, and her daughter were living with Khan in an apartment building in the town of Marash when a 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit at 4:17 a.m. on February 6. Dina and her daughter managed to escape from the badly damaged house, but Khan remained inside. Later that day, at 1:24 p.m., a second 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Elbistan caused their 11-story building to collapse.Dina, 36, spent about 40 days in her car near their home. However, she found no trace of their pet. 49 days after devastating earthquakes that hit 11 provinces in Turkey, claimed more than 50,000 lives, destroyed or severely damaged more than 227,000 buildings, Khan was rescued from the ruins of his former home, Bianet reports. Building owner Fahri Hatipoglu said he spotted the animal as he tried to rescue the kitchen appliances: “We immediately handed the cat over to its owner. The owners have been waiting here for a long time.”Dina described the event as an incredible miracle. “Until the last moment, I didn’t give up hope. Khan always slept with me,” she said. According to veterinarian Fatma Gul Khancioglu, the cat is severely dehydrated: “Khan is our miracle. God willing, he will survive.
