Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums, and Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, inaugurated today, at the Women’s Health and Research Center of Hamad Medical Corporation, the artworks that participated in the exhibition "Outbreak" Or / Breakout / presented by the Doha Film Institute, which took place in 2020.
The exhibition is inspired by efforts to tackle the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, as these artworks were provided by Qatar Museums to be displayed in various hospitals and facilities of Hamad Medical Corporation.
Following the inauguration, Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, accompanied Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani on a tour of the facilities of the Women’s Wellness and Research Center to view the artworks on display at the center, which comes within the unique partnership between Hamad Medical Corporation and Qatar Museums.
The artworks on display are included "Meditation experience" By the artist Anfal Al-Kandari, W"consumer consumption" By the artist Mohammed Al Suwaidi, and"restore nature" By the artist, Sheikha Rawda Al Thani, and a sculpture "Bahrani Baby" Or (The Bahrani Child) exhibited at the Women’s Health and Research Center and is by the famous Iraqi-born artist residing in Qatar Ahmed Al-Bahrani. Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, said that the partnership between Hamad Medical Corporation and Qatar Museums reflects the growing importance of art in health care facilities, as many studies indicate the positive impact that art can have on the healing and recovery process of patients.
Her Excellency added that art has many benefits on the level of physical and psychological health, as many studies have shown that adding an artistic touch within hospitals and health care facilities can help relieve feelings of anxiety, stress or depression for both patients and health care staff.
She explained that art helps transform the usual therapeutic environment into one that is more capable of providing compassionate care and gives a source of inspiration, which enhances the recovery of patients. HE the Minister of Public Health expressed her thanks to Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani and Qatar Museums for their cooperation and continuous support, bringing these wonderful and diverse pieces of art to Hamad Medical Corporation hospitals, and giving the opportunity to patients, visitors and health care teams to enjoy and contemplate them.
It is worth noting that Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City Hospitals and Al Maha Center in Al Wakra Hospital display works of art created by about 24 local talents.
These works had previously appeared in the “Outbreak” exhibition, which dealt with the reality of the world during the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), in addition to honoring the frontline cadres in the State of Qatar and the heroes who continued to play an important and decisive role in ensuring the safety of all during that pandemic. Other artworks displayed at Hamad Medical Corporation facilities also include works displayed in collaboration with the world-famous photographer Anne Geddes, and other historical Islamic art pieces and sculptures.
On the other hand, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani and Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Muhammad Al Kuwari visited patients at the Qatar Rehabilitation Center, and were briefed on a range of advanced rehabilitation services provided by the center, including a facility "Easy Street" For rehabilitation, gait analysis laboratory and physiotherapy unit.
