US mission to UN calls on Russia to reconsider plans to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus

US Deputy Ambassador to the UN Robert Wood called on Russia to reconsider its plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Wood called on Russian authorities to “immediately stop the rhetoric of escalation.” According to the Deputy Representative of the United States to the UN, any use of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons in Ukraine will have serious consequences.
Earlier, Putin said that Moscow and Minsk agreed to place tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. He stressed that tactical nuclear weapons would be deployed without violating relevant international obligations.
