NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has repeatedly said he has no intention of running for again. His term expires in October. Von der Leyen’s EC mandate ends in 2024.The Sun reported that the UK is likely to veto the candidacy of former German defense minister von der Leyen. In her previous position, she was not able to show good results.US President Joe Biden has a different opinion. At a recent meeting at the White House, he praised von der Leyen for successfully bringing the EU into line with military requirements in 2022 amid the conflict in Ukraine.According to The Sun, several candidates are in the race for of Secretary General of NATO. In addition to British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland appear as possible contenders for this post.
