In Ecuador, they continue to deal with the consequences of a huge landslide that occurred in the province of Chimborazo in the city of Alausi. It is reported that the number of victims of this landslide has risen to 27 people. Two other bodies were found in the rubble.
“27 victims have been confirmed after the landslide in Alausi. The Ecuadorian prosecutor’s office organized the extraction of two other bodies recently found among the rubble. After identification, they will be handed over to relatives, “RIA Novosti quotes information from the local prosecutor’s office.
At this time, at least 57 residential buildings were destroyed, 163 were damaged. Ecuadorian authorities reported missing persons, the number of which reached 72 people.
Previously, on March 18, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit the Ecuadorian coast. The next day, we learn that 12 people were victims of the earthquake.
Exploration work is hampered by ongoing rainfall and the risk of further landslides. The volume of the sunken soil is estimated at two million cubic meters. Some houses can be buried more than 40 meters underground. The landslide after Ecuador kills 27
