The commander of the Vostok battalion, Alexander Khodakovsky, spoke about the effectiveness of the interaction between units in the NVO zone using the example of a separate battle. According to the battalion commander, in terms of surviving and achieving results, horizontal links to the front are necessary.
Khodakovsky said there are well-trained UAV operators in his unit’s structure. Specialists conduct courses for related units to transfer their combat experience. Thereafter, teams from different units advance together to take advantage of each side’s advantages.
The military leader recounted a case where two former Ukrainian police officers seconded to the unit showed courage and endurance. According to a report from the field, they resisted the militants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces until the end, until the latter withdrew from their positions. Only after that the Russian army was able to begin the evacuation of injured colleagues.
Battalion commander Khodakovsky previously announced that Vostok would become the base of Russian Guard special forces in the new DPR territorial corps. He also announced that the tasks of the unit will be difficult, and the number – significant, in this regard, a set of fighters is announced.
