The proposal to ban the activities of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Russia is in the interest of national security, Olga Kovitidi, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and Building Law, told RT. the state.
“It corresponds to the interests of the national security of the Russian Federation and, more importantly, of the Russian Constitution,” the senator said.
Amendments aimed at banning ICC activities in Russia are being prepared by relevant State Duma committees, Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said earlier. Amendments to the Federal Law “On Security” should prohibit activities in the Russian Federation and other international bodies that are directed against the country and Russian citizens.
It is assumed that it will also be forbidden to call for cooperation with such organizations and to execute their decisions. For the persecution of Russians by international bodies in violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation, criminal liability should be provided, Volodin believes.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case against the prosecutor and judges of the ICC. The reason for this was the court’s decision on the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the Presidency of Russian President Maria Lvova-Belova.
