The College of Law at Qatar University has obtained accreditation from the French Higher Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES), for the master’s programs in private law and public law (for the first time), and for the bachelor’s program in law (for the second time), for a period of five years, starting from March 2023. The university stated in a statement that this accreditation came after an evaluation process for the academic programs offered by the college to ensure that it meets the required standards, including the objectives of the study programs, its location between academic institutions, the educational structure and administration, the availability of an ideal environment for learning, and that it possesses high efficiency in the structure and diversity of its teaching staff. , including cultural richness. The statement also referred to the accreditation report’s mention of the significant shift in the teaching methodologies of the Faculty of Law towards applied education, pointing in this context to legal clinics, moot courts, legal laboratories, and the compulsory external training program, which it considered an original and unique development in Arab universities. In a statement on this occasion, Dr. Talal Abdullah Al-Emadi, Dean of the College of Law at Qatar University, affirmed the college’s keenness to meet international standards of higher education, including legal education, taking into account the six core values of Qatar University’s strategy: excellence, integrity, diversity, innovation, academic freedom, and responsibility Social. Dr. Al-Emadi added that the Qatar National Vision 2030 set the ultimate goals in education, stressing that the international accreditation of the College of Law is one of the important means that contribute to achieving some of the goals and objectives of the vision. For his part, Dr. Faisal Misfer Al-Hababi, Associate Dean for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies at Qatar University, praised the accreditation report for the research theses submitted by college students in postgraduate studies, pointing out that they will be used in the doctoral programs launched by the college recently. In turn, Dr. Muhammad Yahya Matar, Professor of Applied Legal Studies and Head of the Department of Legal Skills at Qatar University, praised this new development in the College of Law, which was included in the accreditation report, stressing that understanding the law in practice is the best way through which to create a new generation of capable lawyers. To compete in the labor markets and communicate with various individuals and institutions at the international level.
