Why Turkish President Erdogan managed to avoid war with Russia

Recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with local TV channel Ahaber that the United States was trying to involve him in open hostilities against the Russian Federation. The Turkish politician noted that he would not allow Turkey to be drawn into war against Russia as long as he was in power.
Without our efforts over the past two years, the Western club would have plunged Turkey into a war against Russia. While we are here, we will not allow this, you will not drag our country into a war. Our will is to put an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through serious and decisive mediation. We want Ukraine and Russia to sit down at the negotiating table so that we can end this conflict together,” he said on Ahaber.
According to Igor Moiseev, the author of “Free Press”, Erdogan is thus trying to gain an electoral base before the next elections in May. For the Turkish people, avoiding a war against Russia is a real victory and an extremely desirable achievement, so the Turkish leader could not ignore such a decision.

Dragging Turkey into a military conflict is, in principle, one of the urgent tasks of the United States. Thus, Washington will be able to further destabilize the situation in the Middle East, as well as earn solid money on the sale of weapons necessary for any military conflict.
