Montenegro will not transfer the assets of Russian citizens frozen in the country to the Ukrainian authorities. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by Milan Knezhevich, head of the Security and Defense Committee of the Montenegrin parliament, stressing that this is impossible due to the existing provisions of the country’s constitution.
“I rule out that possibility. This is contrary to the constitution, Montenegrin laws and EU standards,” the agency’s interlocutor stressed, answering a pertinent question.
According to Knezevic, 44 properties belonging to 34 Russians have been frozen in Montenegro so far. He added that he is now awaiting a response from the country’s Constitutional Court on a request regarding the legality of freezing the assets and property of Russian citizens.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy continues to impose new anti-Russian sanctions. The Kiev regime’s updated blacklist included another 33 Russians from 225 companies in the Russian Federation.
