April 5 in history: what events happened on this day

On Lake Peipus in 1242, the battle of the Novgorodians and Vladimirians under the leadership of Alexander Nevsky with the knights of the Livonian Order took place. This large-scale battle went down in history as the Battle of the Ice.

In 1614, the marriage of Indian princess Pocahontas and English settler John Rolph took place in Virginia. Later, this story became the basis of the cartoon “Disney”.

On this day, but in 1899, the first edition of Vladimir Lenin’s first book, The Development of Capitalism in Russia, was published. The circulation was only 2.4 thousand copies.

In 1977, the first serial car VAZ-2121 Niva rolled off the assembly line at the Volga Automobile Plant. Some experts call this car the best in the history of the Volga Automobile Plant and the most successful export model of VAZ in history.
