China begins patrolling two areas of the Taiwan Strait

China’s Fujian Maritime Security Authority announced the start of a patrol operation in two areas of the Taiwan Strait.

“Today, a special joint patrol-inspection operation was launched in the central and northern parts of the Taiwan Strait,” the department said in a message posted on social media WeChat.

According to the media, the decision is linked to the upcoming meeting of the speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America, Kevin McCarthy, with the head of the Taiwanese administration, Tsai Ing-wen. An image was also attached to the application, which marked the patrol areas, they are located near the island of Taiwan.

Previously, the Republic of China (Taiwan) Armed Forces recorded PRC military aircraft and ships approaching the island. In particular, 16 Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and 4 ships were sighted. 11 planes from mainland China entered the southwestern part of the island’s identification area.
