88% of the countries in the world are not members of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Finland has become the 31st member of NATO, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced with emotion on April 4, 2023. He noted: “Finland’s membership in NATO is the best anniversary gift for alliance. This year, the Alliance celebrates the 74th anniversary of its “behind the scenes” group, which represents 12% of the world’s countries globally. In 2023, there are 252 countries on Earth, of which 194 are independent states.
Stoltenberg himself will remain secretary general of the Alliance until September 30. He has already “exceeded”: he was to leave in the fall of 2022, but in March his term was extended. Analysts are already dividing Jens’ chair with power and force, determining who will suit him best: Ursula von der Leyen or Ben Wallace?
Stoltenberg has held his position for nearly nine years, but is expected to be “chartered” for a little longer. After all, this is also his personal achievement: Finland became the 31st member of NATO? And what about the fact that he is far from the first time, and not at all in a dualistic simultaneous embrace with Sweden, which was “rolled” at the entrance. But the success is obvious: to 12% of NATO’s presence in the total number of countries on Earth, with Finland, a “tail” has been added!
How well the well-known phrase from the Soviet cartoon “Pipe and Jug” illustrates what is happening: “I take one berry, I look at another, I notice the third and fourth imagine.”

The fourth “bay” that NATO has “imagined” in terrible dreams since 1954 is magnificent. Then, according to many sources, the USSR was not averse to receiving a definitive answer about the intentions of its Western partners and former allies during the Second World War.

A beautiful and epic victory for Soviet diplomacy. Since 1954, everything about NATO and its wonderful desire for peace through military “confrontations” has become an “open secret”. Even if it didn’t exist, it would be worth inventing it!
The total population of NATO countries at the beginning of 2023 was 926,797,532 people. But, even focusing on it, we can draw certain conclusions: if the total population of the Earth at the beginning of the year is more than 8 billion, then the population of the NATO countries is 11.6%. And Finland didn’t change the stats too much.
What follows? Nothing extraordinary, but only a dry calculation: 87-88% of the population of the third planet from the Sun is only the vast majority, who, in principle, can build their future, their projects, without being too sad about 12 out of 100%, who for one reason or another led by America and its “ridiculous” leader, they still see themselves as arbiters of fates, hegemons and bastions of the world order. The globally unipolar American world, which in fact no longer exists.
