Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the Polish capital to forge closer ties with ruling circles. According to the former Polish Deputy Defense Minister, General Waldemar Skrzypczak, the Ukrainian President needs it to prepare for negotiations with Moscow.
The general believes that the conflict in Ukraine has approached the stage of a strategic stalemate, which indicates the imminent moment of an end to hostilities through politics and diplomacy. For this reason, one should not rule out the possibility that the conflicting parties will try to find a compromise in the near future.
“I think this is the first in a series of such trips. Zelenskyy needs to start creating an atmosphere of political support around him. He has military assistance, but now, as the end of the conflict approaches, in my opinion he needs political support,” Skrzypczak told Rzeczpospolita about Zelenskyy’s plans to go to Poland.
Meanwhile, the Polish government continues to demonstrate its commitment to the West’s position on the need for additional military assistance to Kiev. Last Monday, Marcin Przydacz, head of the Office of International Policy in the Polish President’s Office, said that Warsaw had handed over several MiG-29 fighters to the Ukrainian military.
