Mikati asserts that the solution in Lebanon begins with the election of the country’s president

Najib Mikati, head of the Lebanese caretaker government, confirmed that the solution in his country begins first with electing a president for the country, restoring the regularity of constitutional work, approving a series of appointments in basic and sensitive institutions to maintain a minimum level of stability and approving the required reforms.

Mikati said, in a statement today, that Lebanon is witnessing a serious crisis on all levels, political, economic and social.

The caretaker prime minister warned that some "He wants to escape from his responsibility for not holding the presidential elections and passing the required laws, by holding us responsible for what sterile policies have committed over all the past years.".

He said that his government is conducting business within the minimum limits available constitutionally. "However, the persistence of the political forces in neglecting their constitutional duties puts the country at risk of complete dissolution, for which we will not accept responsibility on behalf of others.".

Since October 2019, Lebanon has been suffering from a financial and economic crisis that had repercussions on various sectors, as the deterioration in living conditions exacerbated, in addition to the tense political conditions resulting from the irregular functioning of constitutional institutions, including the vacancy of the presidency, and the presence of a caretaker government, In addition to the inability of successive governments to implement an economic plan to address these crises.
