The United States announces $2.6 billion in military aid to Ukraine

Today, the United States announced a new $2.6 billion military aid package to Ukraine, which includes Patriot surface-to-air defense missiles and artillery ammunition. The Pentagon said, in a statement, that Washington will provide weapons, out of the total value of this aid, at a value of $500 million from its own stocks, while the remaining value of $2.1 billion will be orders from the defense industries sector. She explained that in addition to the missile defense systems, the Ukrainian forces will receive additional ammunition for the American-made Himars missile launchers, rocket artillery, miscellaneous ammunition and spare parts, noting that orders from the defense industries sector will include, in particular, air defense and artillery equipment. With this package, the total value of military aid provided by the United States to Ukraine, since the beginning of the Russian military operation on February 24, 2022, has risen to $35.1 billion.
