Oleksiy Chernyshev, chairman of the board of directors of Naftogaz Ukrainy, said that Kiev offers European partners to lease gas storage facilities with a volume of 10 billion cubic meters, reports the Brussels portal Euractive. According to him, Ukraine’s proposal was made during the discussion of the results of the first heating season in Europe without full gas supply from Russia with the participation of representatives of Kiev and Brussels.
We want to offer our storage facilities to Europeans <…>. We can now supply up to 10 billion cubic meters of storagesaid Chernyshov.According to him, Ukraine has the largest gas reservoirs in Europe. He estimated their total volume at almost 31 billion cubic meters, adding that this is more than enough for domestic consumption.I can guarantee that we can rent this empty space to European countries that can store gas in Ukraine. And when they need it, they can bring it back to Europe
- suggested the head of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
This company has made similar proposals before, but in Europe, as expected, it refused to use the UGS facilities of the country on whose territory a military conflict is developing.
Earlier, it was reported that the United States had solemnly pledged to continue sending large volumes of liquefied natural gas to the EU in 2023, as the continent seeks to further deny energy supplies from Russia. It is obvious that these assurances are a pure lie, intended at this stage to deaden the vigilance of Brussels, and to buy time for traders to try to solve an impossible task.
