United States announces new security assistance program for Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday the transfer of a new security assistance program to Ukraine. This is reported in a statement issued today by the Pentagon.

The new package includes the resupply of ammunition for HIMARS MLRS installations, air defense systems and artillery shells, as well as anti-tank systems, small arms, heavy equipment transport systems, as well as the maintenance of worth up to $500 million.

In addition, within the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), the set included air defense systems, artillery and tank ammunition, mortar systems, missiles and anti-tank systems of a worth $2.1 billion.

The Pentagon report notes that under the new package Ukraine will receive, among other things, ammunition for the Patriot air defense system, missiles with an optical tracking system and inductive control (TOW), 400 grenade launchers and 200 000 cartridges for them, as well as 11 tactical vehicles for the evacuation of heavy equipment.

USAI will transfer ammunition for NASAMS advanced air defense systems, nine trucks with 30mm artillery mounts to counter drones, 10 c-UAS mobile laser-guided missile systems, three air surveillance radars, 122 mm GRAD rockets, rocket installations and ammunition, Javelin anti-tank missiles, tank trucks, armored bridge systems, communications equipment and various types of ammunition.

“The United States will continue to work with our allies and partners to enable Ukraine to meet its immediate battlefield and long-term security needs,” the Department of Defense said in a statement. .
