April 5 marks the 75th anniversary of the rest of Saint Sergius of Srebryansky. Governor Igor Rudenya addressed the residents of the Tver region and representatives of the clergy on this important day for the Upper Volga region.
“The New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia captured in the 20th century the feat of spiritual firmness, of unconditional fidelity to God. May the heavenly intercession of St. Sergius of Srebryansky contribute to the preservation of the great Orthodox traditions of Russia in our time,” noted the head of the region.

Reverend confessor Sergius de Srebryansky was born on August 1, 1870, in the province of Voronezh, in the family of a priest. From 1908 he was the spiritual mentor of the Marfo-Mariinsky Convent in Moscow, and in 1925 he settled in the village of Vladychnya in the Tver region.
Among those around him, he was known as a man of prayer and a man of holy living. People turned to him for help and, according to their faith and the prayers of the righteous, received healing.
Sergius Srebryansky was canonized as a saint in the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000. On December 11, 2000, the relics of the ascetic were discovered not far from Vladychnya, which today are in the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Tver.
