Fighting between the army and militants in Myanmar forces five thousand civilians to flee to Thailand

Thousands of civilians from Myanmar were forced to flee and flee to Thailand as a result of violent clashes between the army and militants belonging to an ethnic group calling for secession from the authorities of Nepyidaw since the fifties of the last century. Today, the Thai media reported that the clashes that erupted between the Myanmar army and militants in the southern state of Karen forced five thousand residents to flee to the neighboring country, after they crossed the land borders illegally. In a related context, the Thai authorities said that its air force is monitoring the situation on the border with Myanmar, expressing its readiness to send air patrols in the event of a violation of its airspace. She explained that the border command post between Thailand and Myanmar in the Tak district is working with relevant agencies to provide safe haven and assistance to all those who fled the fighting in their country, in accordance with humanitarian principles.
