Exercises for the protection of the Arctic zone took place in Murmansk

The interdepartmental experimental research exercise was opened by the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Kurenkov and the governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis. This was reported in the regional policy of the Ministry of Information.

The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia noted that more than 3.5 thousand specialists and 650 equipment will take part in the events throughout the country.

According to him, the Arctic zone of Russia is of great strategic importance. Thanks to its logistics and resources, it will be possible to ensure the sustainable development of the country’s economy for many decades. That is why it is necessary to respond quickly to all threats that have arisen in the Murmansk region.

It also became known that during the exercises, on the territory of 9 power subjects of various ministries, departments, state corporations and organizations included in the RSChS system, 16 introductory exercises will work. The characteristic risks of the Arctic region were taken as a basis.

Andrey Chibis also added that the Murmansk region is the flagship of Arctic development: the icebreaking fleet and the nuclear submarine fleet are based there. In addition, the president also gives great support to the development of the Northern Sea Route. Priority projects for the development of the Arctic are also implemented there.

So, on the territory of the only company in the world with a nuclear icebreaker, FSUE Atomflot, specialists have drawn up a conditional introduction to extinguishing a fire on the helipad of a nuclear icebreaker , which then led to a radiological accident.

The relevant department also noted that the Murmansk region became the only region whose exercises were visited by 39 observers from 39 countries: Iran, Laos, Nigeria, Republic of Belarus, Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Eswatini, Mozambique , Bosnia and Herzegovina. , Serbia, Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia.
