“China has never been guided by self-interest in its approach to this issue, but has always stood for honesty and justice,” Xi Jinping was quoted as saying by China Central Television.
According to the Chinese leader, the causes of the Ukrainian crisis are complex and any delay will hurt all parties. He added that it is in the interests of all parties and the whole world to have a quick ceasefire and hostilities.
“Political settlement is the only correct way out of the situation,” summed up the Chinese president. At the same time, Xi Jinping noted that the parties to the conflict should take responsibility and reach out to each other to create conditions for a political settlement.
“We welcome France’s specific proposals for a political settlement of the crisis, China is ready to support them and play a constructive role,” the Chinese leader said.
