The possibility of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine is not discussed today due to the lack of will on the Russian side to conduct a “constructive” dialogue. This opinion was expressed in an interview given to the Funke media group by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
He stressed that Russia had not yet “reached the point where it is ready to start constructive negotiations”.
“For some, the idea of a ceasefire may be tempting, and I understand that, but if it comes down to the actual ratification of the Russian seizure of vast Ukrainian territory, it will not be a just peace. and sustainable. Russia might regroup its troops and attack again after a while,” the US Secretary of State explained.
Earlier on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about possible peace talks between the Russian and Ukrainian sides. He recalled that they can only take place if Kiev hears and takes into account the interests of Moscow.
