Sheikh Joaan crowns Al Wajbah with the title of the 21st edition of the Ramadan Al Wajbah Football Championship

His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, crowned Al Wajba team with the title of the twenty-first edition of the Ramadan Football Championship 2023, after defeating Al Wukair with a clean goal scored by its player Hamad Al Marri in the final match. In terms of individual awards, Al Wajba goalkeeper Masoud Zeraei won the title of best goalkeeper, Khaled Al Hamar, Al Wukair player, was named the tournament’s top scorer with four goals, and Hamid Al Ahbabi, Al Wukair player, won the best player award in the tournament. Al-Wajba had decided its qualification for the final match at the expense of Al-Rayyan, the runner-up of the last edition, by penalty kicks (5/4) after a tie with four goals each in regular time. For his part, Al-Wakir reached the final at the expense of the Mars team, by defeating it by three goals to one. Mr. Ahmed Al-Subaie, Director of Al-Wajba Tournament, confirmed that the competition was strong between the participating teams, and excitement was present in all matches and the club dominated its course, as most of the matches were not decided until the last moments. Al-Subaie pointed out that the final match left positive impressions among the fans that accompanied it, and each team presented technical glimpses that deserved praise, pointing out that Al-Wajba and Al-Wukair achieved a remarkable presence during their career in the tournament. The tournament director concluded: "The current edition of the tournament was successful by all standards, and the organizing committee works in each edition to introduce new ideas aimed at developing the tournament on an annual basis.". For his part, Majed Al-Khulaifi, coach of Al-Wajba team, expressed his great happiness that his team won the title after an absence, thanking the tournament organizers. Al-Khulaifi added in his statement: "The competition was not easy at all, especially since the final matches are known for their caution", stressing that the opponent was strong and not underestimated at all, and the changes we made in the second half enabled the team to control and score and made the difference. At the end of his statement, the Al-Wajba coach indicated that organizing the tournament was a remarkable success, in addition to the large audience that it enjoyed.. which confirms that the tournament has a great status and everyone will look forward to it annually in the month of Ramadan to enjoy its wonderful atmosphere. On the other hand, Mishaal Abdullah, the Al Wajba striker, considered that his team deserved the title, especially since it had not suffered any defeat throughout its career in the tournament. The former Qatari national team and Al-Ahly club striker added: "The tournament witnessed distinguished levels in all matches, in light of the participation of elite teams that included many experienced players in their ranks, and we did our best to achieve the title, and we dealt with the tournament step by step and ultimately crowned our efforts with winning the title.". He noted that each team presented a good technical level befitting the final match of the tournament, but its team succeeded in achieving preference and winning the match to be crowned champion of the 21st edition of the tournament. In turn, Nayef Al-Enezi, Al-Wajba team player, congratulated all his teammates on the performance and the great effort they made in the final. He said that the Al-Wajba tournament is one of the great Ramadan tournaments in Qatar and is perfectly organized by those in charge of its management, and this is not new for the cadres that organize it. . This year, the tournament witnessed the participation of ten teams who were divided into two groups, where the first group includes the teams: Al-Wajba, Lebesir, Locker, Umm Baraka and Lekhwiya, while the second group includes the teams: Al-Shaqab, Al-Rayyan, Sharq, Muraikh and the Police College.
