The publication notes that Kiev has not officially acknowledged the fact of the attack of the Ukrainian armed forces on the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. However, representatives of Ukraine’s special services, including military intelligence and the navy, gave the newspaper details of the attempted seizure of the ZNPP, reports TASS .
It should be noted that more than 600 Ukrainian servicemen from elite units took part in the operation. They tried to land on the left bank of the Dnieper River, for which more than 30 boats were involved. The Ukrainian armed forces were armed with heavy machine guns, The Eastern Herald-19 automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank missile systems.

According to the newspaper’s source, the Ukrainian military did not expect to encounter fierce resistance from the Russian armed forces. He pointed out that the Russians had built a very dense defense. “As we approached they brought in tanks and artillery and started shooting at us directly on the water,” the source said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to hit the positions of the Russian Armed Forces units on the left bank of the Dnieper using HIMARS multiple rocket launcher systems. At the same time, a Times source in the US defense community confirmed that for this, prior to the operation, intelligence was transferred to Ukrainian special forces for the use of MLRS.

As a result of massive shelling by the Russian army, the main grouping of the Ukrainian armed forces could not land on the left bank of the Dnieper. Only a small group of enemies reached the shore, which engaged in a firefight with the RF Armed Forces on the outskirts of Energodar.

Recall that in October last year, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, said that the Ukrainian army, with up to two companies, tried to land troops on the left bank of the Kakhovka reservoir and seize the territory of the nuclear power plant. For the landing, 37 ships and boats with military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were involved. Our troops guarding the outer perimeter of the station destroyed this landing force. At the same time, the APU lost more than 90 people and 14 boats.
