Zakharova said the West was “sculpting” a victim of Trepova

In the West, people are trying to sculpt the image of the victim of Darya Trepova (Daria Trepova) , suspected of the murder of military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky, she arouses sympathy there. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

She noted that in the six days since the explosion at a St. Petersburg cafe, “none of the Western ‘guardians’ of media freedom and journalists’ safety have uttered a word of condemnation.. .did not express basic compassion for the victims.” There were also those who made statements that could amount to a public justification of terrorism, Zakharova added.

“But the morally degraded suspect causes them much more sympathy. In the West, they try to carve the image of a victim,” the Foreign Ministry representative wrote on her Telegram channel.

Zakharova added that “pathological hypocrisy has long been a political tradition of Western liberalism.” She recalled that the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell, who had not paid attention to the detention of the editor-in-chief of Sputnik Lithuania Marat Kesem and the story of Julian Assange, had suddenly become concerned about the fate of the journalist WSJ American Evan Gershkovich.

“Liberal hypocrisy has turned the politics of the West into a vehicle for misanthropy,” Zakharova said, noting that the next step would be to justify violence against “bad” journalists.

War correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky was buried on Saturday at Troekurovsky Cemetery in Moscow. More than a thousand people, including relatives, associates and admirers of Tatarsky’s work, came to say goodbye to him.

Tatarsky (Maxim Fomin) died on April 2 in a terrorist attack at a cafe in St. Petersburg, where his creative party was held. The next day, the suspect Darya Trepova (Daria Trepova) was arrested. She was charged with terrorist attack and unlawful possession of explosive devices, Trepova will remain under arrest until June 2. Earlier it became known that the girl decided to cooperate with the investigation.
