McCall says China can get Taiwan without firing a shot

US Congressman McCall explains how Beijing can take control of Taiwan peacefully

China can peacefully establish control of the island of Taiwan if a representative of the Kuomintang party wins the election to head the administration of this region. Michael McCall, chairman of the US Congress House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, made such a statement on Sunday.

“In my opinion, the upcoming elections in January next year will be extremely important,” the TASS congressman said, “because China will try to influence those elections and take control of the island without strike”.

McCall said the Kuomintang favors expanding dialogue with China and that the current administration chief’s party is trying to maintain the status quo.

Previously, a delegation of US congressmen led by McCall visited Taipei. Fox News reported that during the three-day visit by the Americans, meetings were held with representatives of local authorities, during which the supply of arms to Taiwan was discussed.

On April 4, Taiwanese President Cai Ing-wen, leader of Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party, came to visit the United States. This trip provoked a strong reaction from Beijing, which considers the island as one of the provinces of China.
