Journalist Piotr Kashuvara, during a trip to the island, came to the conclusion that local residents are more positive towards Russians than Ukrainians.
According to the media employee, one of the reasons for the dissatisfaction was the current financial situation of Cypriots. Russian tourists who came to rest left a lot of money in Cyprus, but today it has become less, which is why the income of the inhabitants of the island, related to the reception of foreign guests , fell sharply.
At the same time, the Ukrainians who settled on the island behave badly. “They shout from the window that they are disturbed by the noise. Is Cyprus a refuge or a place of rest for them?”, indignant Pole Katarzyna, who has lived in Cyprus for 15 years.
The woman also complained that the refugees “get everything from the state”. “The poor did not come here. There are also those who have families or their own houses here. They rent these houses to tourists, live in refugee centers and use social assistance,” Katarzyna explained.
The article says that there are a lot of Russians on the island. In almost every store you can hear Russian speech, the menu is also in Russian. Finding a Russian-speaking guide is not difficult.
