Volgograd will buy 20 new electric buses with the help of a federal grant

The mayor’s office announced an electronic auction to select an organization that will provide vehicles for MUE Metroelektrotrans.

According to the city administration, the modern electric transport will be purchased with funds from a targeted grant, which the city will receive under the transport system development program, the National Safe High-Quality Roads Project.

The vehicles must reach speeds of up to 70 km/h and carry up to 85 people in the cabin. At the same time, due to the charged batteries, the electric bus must travel at least 80 kilometers. All cars will be equipped with ramps, contactless payment terminals and sockets to charge gadgets during the journey. Special charging stations are also purchased for transport.

According to experts, as early as 2023, electric buses should be launched on the route that will connect the residential microdistrict “Rodnikovaya Dolina” with the center of Volgograd. Charging stations will be located at the terminus in the microdistrict and at the depot.

Remember that the municipality is actively expanding the possibilities of electric transport. In 2022-2023, 110 autonomous trolleybuses are purchased for urban journeys.
