According to the law, the government will continue to exercise its functions and will only resign after the convocation of the new Riigikogu, the Estonian National Assembly. The Reform Party, Eesti 200 and the Social Democratic Party have reached an agreement to form a new coalition. Therefore, President Karis proposed that Kaia Callas, as leader of the winning Reform Party, form a new government. On Tuesday, Karis will meet the ministerial candidates.
The government, led until today by Kaya Kallas, took office in July 2022 and has been in office for 267 days. Supporting NATO enlargement, the Reform Party won the general elections in Estonia on 6th March.
