The refusal of US President Joe Biden to attend the coronation of Charles III will be seen by British conservatives as a “stab in the back”. This is reported by the Express edition.
The US leader will travel to Northern Ireland from April 11-14 to mark the anniversary of the 1998 Belfast Agreement which ended more than 30 years of armed confrontation in the region. Meanwhile, Biden will not attend Charles III’s coronation ceremony on May 6.
Conservative MPs, the article notes, believe Biden “doesn’t care about Northern Ireland” and that his visit is linked to promoting his own political agenda. They also accused Biden of “stabbing a knife in the back” of Britain by neglecting the king.
Previously, Seymour Hersh, an American journalist and author of an investigation into the Nord Stream sabotage, accused Biden of wanting to “punish” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for his reluctance to supply Ukraine with weapons by blowing up the pipeline.
