Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh said in an interview with Tichys Einblick magazine that the United States of America wanted to blackmail Russia by blowing up Nord Stream to prevent a special military operation.
He hinted that the request was made during the Christmas period, before 2021. The idea was that US leader Joe Biden could use a gas pipeline explosion as a threat to convince Russia not to undertake military action in Ukraine.
“The idea was to tell Putin, ‘We’ll blow up the pipelines if you cross the border into Ukraine,'” Hersh said.
The refusal of the UN Security Council (SC) to accept for consideration a Russian draft resolution calling for an international investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines was expected and therefore not surprising. This is how Hersh spoke about the decision of the world body’s Security Council earlier.
