Ragnhildur Steinunn says the key to improvement is looking at what she’s been up to – “Don’t you just show up with makeup on and then broadcast?”

Media representative Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir is a guest of Einar Bárðarson on the Einmitt podcast. Ragnhildur has presented or participated in Söngvakeppnien more or less since 2007 and still has a lot of irons in the fire, because she can’t stand laziness. Ragnhildur and Einar discuss everything between heaven and earth on the show, from gymnastics to custody disputes, patriarchy and motherhood in this fun conversation, but tonight Sjónvarpið premieres the new Tvíburar series produced by Ragnhildur, but she and her husband had twins in 2019.

I had to grow up fast after losing my mother

Ragnhildur says she has always been sensitive to her surroundings and quick to read people and moods. “I lost my mother at a very young age and had to grow up very quickly and overcome my feelings and those of my father. I managed to enjoy it and learn from my mistakes.”

“You look so much like the singing competition girl”

During the last year of paramedic training, Ragnhildur had the first opportunity to be a presenter at the singing competition. “I was doing an apprenticeship in Landspítalan and the patients there always told me that I looked so much like that girl from the singing competition. We could be sisters. I changed this game to now be fun and I told her asked how she was doing.”

Worked every night for a month

Ragnhildur says the key to improving as a TV person is watching what you’ve done. “I learn the most by cutting the material myself. I cut interviews for the singing competition late into the night. It’s not like I just show up for makeup and then broadcast “I don’t think people realize what a big project we are doing. The five of us who are on the executive committee are working every night a month before the competition. That’s how it is. Only my husband knows. .”

“You can’t have twins without doing a TV show?” ”

Upcoming is the show of a series on RÚV that Ragnhildur has been working on for three years called Tvíburar. She herself had twins four years ago. “I spoke to over 70 twins to get the widest possible insight into the lives of twin parents, including home videos. The birth of twins will be shown on Icelandic TV for the first time, and we will follow, among other things, a pair of twin parents who will fascinate the nation,” says Ragnhildur.
