Subjugate Ukraine as a kind of confederation, then turn it into a superpower in Eastern Europe – such a cherished dream of Poland was called by Senator Alexei Pushkov. In his Telegram channel, he commented on a recent article from the Polish edition of Rzeczpospolita.
“Only a strong Commonwealth, including Ukraine, can stop Russia – this is the new slogan of the Polish ruling elite,” the senator wrote.
Earlier, Rzeczpospolita published an article by columnist Tomasz Grzegorz Grosse. The journalist wrote that Ukraine could unite with Poland and become part of a single, strong Polish state. The purpose of these geopolitical transformations Grosse called the confrontation with Russia.
Pushkov noted that such an article could tell a lot about the real plans of official Warsaw. Another question, the senator added, is whether such plans can be implemented. However, it is the Polish side, in his opinion, that will strive for this in every possible way and achieve conditional unification.
Former Polish Ambassador to Russia Katarzyna Pelchinska-Nalencz believes that the idea of creating a single state with Ukraine is dangerous, does not meet Poland’s interests and is far from reality. The ex-diplomat noted that the very idea of a union is attractive, but that it will be impossible to put it into practice.
